Either one could be right.

"She worried a bit that her hair was turning grey."

She was worried because her hair was turning gray.

"She worried a bit, for her hair was turning grey."

She was worried, and the reason she was worried is that her hair was turning gray.

There is a difference between the two sentences, but it is a small one. The second sentence focuses more on the worrying. (The word for there does mean because.)

The second sentence should be: "I wonder how many years ago your father retired." The other choice given (B) is incorrect.

I agree with Ron about 2b being wrong. The use of 'for' is correct, but it isn't that common a usage. ;-)

Yeah！I understand now! And I got to know why B is not correct in the first sentence, because there is no comma before "for".

Whoever put that question in that test expected there to be only one correct answer. As you know, either choice that is given can be used in the sentence in question. The only difference--and it is a small one--is that a comma is used before for.

I wouldn't be surprised if the person writing it hadn't overlooked that use of 'for'. ;-)
