I just want to know why at the end of this sentence it is ''hard'' and not ''harder''

(Not a teacher)
...if you worked hard. (That means he or she is not working hard but lazy.)
...if you worked harder. (That means he or she is working hard but not hard enough.) - a subtle difference.;-)
