I have just read an article about Canada. As it appears, the minister for civil rights and immigration ( I am translating, so I don't know if this denomination is exact), has "suggested" civil servants to unplug their Blackberries between 7pm and 7 am. The measure is pretending to confront the problems which "abuse of connectivity" is causing in the country.
The advantages of new technology doesn't seem to be so advantageous any more as collateral damages ahave appeared: homes made a second office, and a romantic dinner spoilt by sending "urgent" e-mails. Devices like the Blackberry, invented by a Canadian , have generated work habits which are not always "healthy". Everybody seems to expect an immediate answer nowadays which elevates stress.
Now the administration is trying to avoid this. Even some private inicitatives start to flourish. Hotels like the Sheraton in -Chicago offer its clients to deposit in their PDAs and some holiday resorts offer "unplugged" options.
Can you live unplugged? Does your Blackberry go with you everywhere? What about the portable computer or the mobile phone? Do you think you can go without them?
