Can you please tell me the meaning of the word: LASTLING?

Its the title of a novel and I have to write about it. But I don't understand a word as I don't even know the meaning of this word.... Can't find it on any dictionary as well..... Please help!:cry:

Boy, I have no idea. I hope if I read the book it would make more sense.

Maybe it's their way of referring to the last one(s) born?

The book seems to be a book for adolescents about a Yeti (abominable snowman, altough in this case snowwoman) who is the last of her species. "Lastling" refers to her.
