Hi everyone, I have a question related to the usage of every in the following conext. What does the word "every" mean in the following context? And if I omit it, will the sentence have the same meaning that it is wanted to convey?

1- Spain is not famous for production of apples. One in every two apples consumed in Spain is imported.

- One apple per two apples
- Half the apples
- 50% of the apples

You could say "One in two apples ..." with no change in meaning but it's less common/natural.
