I have been told that to use the form 'him and me' is grammatically incorrect - it is now grammatically correct to use 'him and I' - that is not what I was taught - does anyone know the definitive answer?

When used as the objects of verbs or prepositions, "him and me" is correct. For subjects, it is "he and I". I can't think of any cases in which "him and I" would be correct, as conjoined pronouns.
