It is me(Informal) (mostly used in spoken English)

or

It is I:tick:(Formal English)
Before and after any form of "verb to be", use the same form of pronouns(Subject - subject), e.g. It is I.
(Not a teacher;-))

That's an old prescription that was based on Latin, Albertino.

The mistake here, of course is to assume that what holds in Latin grammar has to hold for English. English grammar differs on innumerable points from Latin grammar; ...

The Cambridge Grammar of the English Language at page 9

It was never an accurate description of how English worked.

Both are correct forms of English. Formal English does not mean correct English. That too is an old wives tale.
