Which is considered to be correct and why?

On Wednesdays my class uses the gym.

or

On Wednesdays my class use the gym.

If they're all doing the same thing at the same time (the whole class is there together), then "uses". See this link for a pretty clear explanation:

It depends on whether you see the class as a unit or as individual people.
They are both correct.
