[Grammar] use

Hello,

I don't know which preposition to use in this case:

We use this tool to flatten the dough/ for flattening the dough. (The second one sounds strange to me, but we use the question "What do we use it for", so it confuses me!!

Either way is fine. "To flatten" is probably more natural, but "for flattening" is also correct.

(The more common phrase would be to say "rolling the dough" rather than flattening.)
