Dear Teacher,

What is the meaning for " va va voom"? Thanks!:roll::roll:

"The word has become famous in the Renault TV commercial where footballer Thierry Henry is trying to sum up the meaning of the word.

The Concise Oxford Dictionary could help him with the answer as it's been included in the latest edition that was published. The explanation of va-va-voom is: "The quality of being exciting, vigorous, or attractive".
Urban Dictionary: Va Va Voom!

You don't hear that expression very much these days, which is not to say that men don't quietly think it ;-);-), but "va va va voom" is the typical male reaction when a curvaceous, attractive female wanders by.

So is it for a man's feeling toward a attractive woman only? Is it English word? Thanks.

Yes. It is a verbal description of a man's reaction when he sees a woman that he finds attractive/sexy/appealing. It's not exactly a word, but an English onomatopoetic phrase.

I'm not a teacher, but I am a longtime Arsenal fan, with an attendant interest in Thierry Henry. As his famous advertisement shows, the answer to your question is No. It is not only for a man's feeling toward an attractive woman. That's where it came from, and that's how it is most often used, but its use is broadening to apply to other situations that convey a similar sense of sensual excitement. If you only use in the man+woman sense, you'll be perfectly correct, but you need to be aware that it is used in connection with things other than biological attractiveness. :-D
