Valuer or Valuator?

Is there such a word as "valuer"? Isn't "valuator" , the correct word to describe a person who gives valuation for a property, item etc?

:hi:

valuer - refer to the person who values; in British it's an appraiser

valuator - One that estimates values; an appraiser.

So, in short, we may use both the words..

You can, but in Britain I would expect something to be valued by a valuer, except in the cases where insurance is being claimed, when the valuation is made by a Loss Adjustment Assessor.

Appraiser has a wider usage, being applied to people as well as things.
