Verbal confusion

Dear sir/madam,
I have some queries regarding the use of words like "prandial" "temporal" etc.
1.What is the correct term for these words?(adjective of some sort, I suspect.)
2.Where could I find a complete list of such words?
3.Are there any rules for the formation of these words? They all seem to end in "al" but this ending seems to be appended to strange roots.
4.Meal is to prandial as lesson is to ??????.
Please help if at all possible as this is driving me crazy!!
