Hey,
I have got a question about verbs like think imagine feel.
Let's go with this type of sentence:
That is not how I thought I would ask you to do it.
That is not how I imagined things would be.
That is not the way I felt it would go
That is what I thought he would do
Now in all of these sentences, after the verbs like think imagine feel, comes the subject(I)(things)(it) and then the verb again.
But can't we, for example, say the first sentence in this way: "That is not how I thought myself asking you to do it" or for the other sentences "That is not how I thought/imagined things working out for me"
So we use the subjects like "I" or "things" or "it"after those verbs and the verb coming right after those subjects are not in gerund form.
but for example when we form the sentence with the verb "see" we say: "That is not how I saw him doing it" but NOT "That is how I saw that he was doing it"
So, is the construction of "how I thought I would" only for the verbs such as think/imagine/feel
Can you help me to understand the construction of those phrases at the top?
Thank you
