I spent very much of my time to finish the work.

Is the above sentence grammatically correct? Someone said I shouldn't use "Very much of " to describe "time", but I really heard it before.

The negative version is much more natural. "I don't spend very much of my time..."

A more natural version in BrE would be "I spent a lot of [my] time finishing the work".
