Is "visit and ascertain" some kind of expression, idiom or the like?
I read it in a text and seems to be instructions on checking something.
"Visit and ascertain if Mr. Branagham did collect that boxes from the store and took them to the indicated address."
Taking the expression literally, it seems that in order to check Mr. Branagham did the assignment it is required to go to the place personally and make the right inquiries. Is this the meaning, or are there more implied meaning?
