WHY DO NOT WE USE "DO" OR "DOES" IN THE FOLLOWING WH-QUESTIONS :
e.g:
-How come that she is early today ?
or:
-who made the coffee ?
Kindest regards ,
Hassan
"Who made the coffee?"
In this sentence somebody made the coffee.
Therefore 'Who' is the subect and 'the coffee' is the object. When who is the subject in a question we do not use an auxilliary verb.
If 'Who' was the object then you need the auxilliary verb:-
For example:-
'The coffee poisoned me.'
Then the question would be:-
Who
did the coffee poison?
Here 'Who' is the object and 'the coffee' the subject.
Obviously you can't think every time you form a question -
subject / object? So it is best to get a feel for questions with lots of practice.
Hope this helps 8)
