[General] What about this sentence?

"Looking out the window, she didn’t know that the cat spilled the milk all over the table."
Does this sentence sound okay? or sound awkward?
I am trying to say this, "As she looked out the window, she didn’t know that the cat spilled the milk all over the table."
I should use a participle phrase meaning a reason.

"As she looked out the window, she didn’t know that the cat spilled the milk all over the table."

The 2nd sentence makes more sense than the lst.

IMO, when you begin the sentence with 'looking out of the window', you expect the clause that follows to be related to the first part and not about something else.

You could say "Looking out the window, she failed to see that the cat had spilled (or spilt) milk all over the table". This suggests that the reason she didn't notice what the cat had done was that she was doing something else. I would say, however, that "Because she was looking out the window, she didn't notice that the cat had spilled (spilt) milk all over the table".
