Hi... please see the following question.

This is the question from my Grammar test.

_________________ out in the country, the elderly couple barely see

their adult children.

(A) Living as they do
(B) As they do living

Sorry, but there is no answer now. The answer is very debatable...

I'd like to hear your opinions.

I think the Answer of this question is:
As they do living out in the country, the elderly couple barely see

their adult children.

Thanks a lot.

I don't see why either would not be fine. However I do not particularly like the sentence in any case.

(A) is the kind of semi-formal style of writing and speaking that would be found with most government and semi-government agencies.

Well I work in a government department and if any of my staff wrote such a poor sentence I would send them on a writing course.

What do you find 'poor' about it?
How would you phrase it as close to the original as possible?
