Hello! Can anyone help me with the sentence? I really appreciate your help. Thank you.

In Daniel Stashower's book " The Boy Genius and the Mogul," a sentence goes like this: "... the battle he faced to capitalize on his breakthrough, and the powerful forces that resulted in the collapse of his dreams. ..."

It's a book about Philo T. Farnsworth, the television inventor.

What does the sentence "the battle he faced to capitalize on his breakthrough" mean?

Thank you very much.
