In my city, these days in most of the parks you can find special facilities for people to do exercise on. Is it correct to call them "recreation facilities" and to call this phenomenon "public sports"?
By "public sports", I mean when people go to the parks and do general exercise sometimes in groups sometimes individually? Am I right?

I'd call them "exercise areas". When I lived in Madrid, almost every park had at least one small area with some exercise equipment for use by the public. Usually, it was for older people. There were static bicycle pedals in front of a bench to help with knee and ankle exercises, and some metal discs which were turned with the help of a handle, to assist with wrist, elbow and shoulder exercises. Bigger parks had an area for push-ups, pull-ups, sit-ups, balance beam work etc for the mid-age generation.

If you're talking about basketball courts, football pitches etc, then I would say "recreation facilities".

Thanks for "recreation facilities" and "exercise area".
But do you have any terms for this kind of doing exercise (general exercise) that emsr2d2 talked about. When people (especially middle-aged people) go to parks to do exercise and use these facilities? Is "public sports" or " public recreation" ok?
