My partner and I are writing our wedding invitations and are confused as to the correct grammar of the following phrase:

friends and families to bare witness of
the commitment between:

Or is it:

We request the presence of our dear

The correct word is bear, not "bare". Here bear means (give)(render) witness to your commitment.

Your sentence sounds quite formal/legalistic, but if you want that style of course you can keep it. You could also say something simpler like '...families to witness our...'.

I unintentionally changed 'the commitment between...' to 'our (commitment)'. I didn't mean that it should be changed.
