The following sentence is from BBC news website.

He pledged the government would "leave no stone unturned" in their investigation and said inquiries had already been made into 33 cases of civilian deaths, injuries or ill treatment in Iraq.

That's very good. It should be "those" cases - plural. :wink:

It means to look in every nook and cranny, to search carefully, to even pick up every thing and look under it.

Crooks are often called "snakes." Snakes hide under rocks. Turn over every stone (rock) and find the snake or whatever is hiding there.
