What is the following in red saying in context?

Here's what Roger Bacon says: "At first one should believe those who have made experiments or who have faithful testimony from others who have done so ..... experience follows second, and reason comes third."
Look where Bacon tells you to look first: in the laboratories of other scientists. In other words, what works? Next comes your own "experience." By this Bacon means your own experiments.

Does this mean "what is the successful results of other scientists' experiments?" or "what methods of experiment are effective?"

Thank you.

Thank you.

In the context given, I think your second suggestion is more likely.
