When Bob arrived in the US

I am wondering if my sentences are grammatically correct.

When Bob arrived in the US from a little Irish village, he felt intimidated by imposing buildings and heavy traffic. Even the bed he was supposed to sleep on was enormous.

It's grammatically correct. The enormous bed doesn't follow from the previous sentence, though (because it doesn't mention the size of anything), so "even" doesn't work.

I imagine that the imposing buildings are large.

I would use the imposing buildings.
