when do we use " unable to understand "

unable to understand and don't get is samething right. I would like to know when do we use " unable to understand " and usually when we talk we use don't get or unable to understand and them depend on what?

I would use 'don't get' in everyday conversations, and 'unable to understand' in more formal language.
