Please, would you take a look at this sentence and correct it:

1. When he was a child, his mother was telling him stories about packs of wolves roaming the woods and fields around villages.

I am wondering if I need the article "the" before the word "villages?

I am wondering if I need the article "the" before the word "villages?

It depends on whether these are specific villages, or villages in general. If his mother was talking about the group of villages where the child lived, then you need to include "the". If she was saying that packs of wolves roamed around many villages throughout that country, then you should not include "the".
