I've underlined two pairs of phrases which contain redundancies. If you're in tenth grade, the reader already knows you're in school; you don't have to mention it. If you're taking final exams, the reader already knows that you're taking exams.

Remember to read everything you write before you post it here. Look for repetitions which you can remove.

Yes, that's much better. A shorter version in American English would be When I was in the tenth grade, I failed my math final.

In BrE, "I failed my Maths GCSE" would get the same message across. That's the name of the exam that students take at the age of 16 (Year 10 in BrE, tenth grade in AmE).
If, for some reason, you took your Maths GCSE at a different age, it would be worth mentioning.
