I am wondering if my sentences are grammatically correct.

When Neil went bankrupt, his friends did not feel sorry for him. They had warned him to invest carefully, but stubborn as he was, he never heeded any advice.

See above. "stubborn as he was" is additional information so that is what should be enclosed in brackets. I'd use "their" at the end rather than "any".
