I am wondering if my sentences are grammatically correct.

When Peter arrived in a little town he had an impression to be in backwoods. Stray dogs loitered among the crumbling buildings while people moved as if they had all time in the world.

When Peter arrived in a small town, he had the had the feeling he was in the backwoods. Stray dogs moved among the crumbling buildings while people moved as if they had all the time in the world.

You have "move" twice in your sentence. I think that "loitered" sounds better in my version.

Dogs don't tend to "loiter". It's used for people, and suggests that they are specifically hanging around waiting for something or because they are bored and have nothing better to do. It can even sound quite sinister - a person loitering outside an unoccupied house, for example, might be suspected of being a would-be burglar.

I'd say the dogs wander or meander.
