Hello all members!
A Ship Repair Yard is responsible for constructing the ferry that bears number VVV.
or
A Ship Repair Yard is responsible for constructing the ferry, which bears number VVV.
The meaning is the same but the thing is that the firrst sentence describes the specific ferry whereas the second one tells us about a known ferry.
I am in favour of the first version but it is better to consult you.
What is your opinion?
Thank you.

You'd use the version which gives the necessary information.
In the first sentence citing the vessel number is mandatory (it's a defining clause); in the second it is non-essential additional information, since the hearer apparently already knows which ferry you're talking about.
