Hi,

which non-native English accent do you like, or find amusing?
If you can, please write the reason as well.

I will get started:

I like the Jamaican and Malaysian/Singaporean accents,
because in my perception, they have a lilting quality, but
sometimes it can be distracting as I pay attention to the
tones rather than words. And perhaps due to Pink Panther
movies, I find the French accent a bit amusing (no offense).

---
A scene from a Pink Panther movie:

Inspector Clouseau checks into a hotel/inn (in Germany?).
He sees a dog sitting there and asks the inn-keeper: Does your dog bite?
Man behind the desk: No

As Clouseau walks towards the stairs, the dog growls or barks at him.
Clouseau: I thought you said your dog does not bite.
Man behind the desk: That is not my dog.

I think the African's, why? I'm not sure about this, but I'll say maybe because they make a lot of sounds as they speak, you know.:)

Hello everybody,

Personnally I prefere the african accent, I had a Ugandian teacher, she had a cute accent, ...euh no she is a native speaker, but I liked a lot her speaking, even she speaks english perfectly, she is a great teacher I hope she's going to be mine (teacher) this session.

I like German people when they speak english, moreover this they speak it slowly

Regards.

I'm not really fond of any non-native English accent. Some may sound funny but I don't like them that much. To me English speakers sound cute.

Gimme a Scotsman accent anyday. Mike Meyer found the intrinsic comedic value of a Scots accent (anyone remember Fat Bastard?)

I love the way they say "foooooootball"

hey! really? singapore government is trying to do away with the 'slangs' and the way we are speaking english.. hm, maybe it is because we use the extra words not found in the english dictionary? some people do not understand singlish and sometimes it can turn out to be really funny :)
