I'm going to dedicate an extra hour to studying.

Why not make it simpler:

I'll increase my study time by one hour.
I'll study for one more hour.

I prefer your second sentence.

Plus - in your first sentence, you would need to say "dedicated TO studying". You dedicate time/energy etc to something, not for something.
