Hello teachers

Which one shoud I chose?

1 The first place___we were taken to see was their workplace.
A that B which C what D where

2 This is the very room_____I slept in that evening.
A that B which C where D at which

I think where and which are correct answers to both . But I am not sure. please help me.

By the way what does very room mean? Thank you!

Hello teachers

Which one shoud I chose? Neither one is necessary, but if I had to choose one, I would use "where" (location).

I have to disagree with billmcd on the first one. I would choose "that" and some people would choose "which". In my opinion, "where" is not possible, partly due to the presence of "to see" later in the sentence, but mainly I just don't find it natural.

I find the following three sentences natural:

The first place [that] we were taken to see was their workplace.
The first place [which] we were taken to see was their workplace.
The first place we were taken to see was their workplace.

The first place where we were taken to see was their workplace - I don't like this.

I'll meet you half way (or maybe two-thirds). I overlooked the "to see" and I agree it doesn't go well with "where", but without it I would still go with "where", as I said, because of "place we were taken" (location, and therefore "where"). I agree also that "that" is better than either "which" or "where".
