I am wondering if my sentences are grammatically correct.

While the plain-clothes police were keeping a close eye on an infamous criminal's flat, Bob, a local gangster, robbed a betting shop right under their noses. He almost yielded to temptation to take a selfie with the police's BMW.

I like the story. I think I'd say, He almost yielded to the temptation of taking a selfie with the police's BMW. Or, He almost yielded to temptation by taking a selfie with the police's BMW.
