Which word is suitable?

We, as parents, should aim to educate or bring up our children to become socially responsible citizens.

I suppose maybe "bring up" is better, as "educate" often refers to what teachers at schools or universities do while "bring up" relates to what parents do.

I agree that "bring up" is the better choice there. You could use "educate" in something like "We should educate our children in social responsibility".
