I write "It is worth a try."
And my friend said it should be "It is worth trying"
What's the difference?

There is a lot of delicious food in that shop. It is worth a try.
Let's say you're talking about a cake shop.

1- I read some internet reviews of that shop, and I believe the tiramisu they make is delicious. It's worth a try.

2- They make absolutely sublime tiramisu in that shop. It's worth trying.

#1 suggests you think it is worth taking a chance and going in to that shop to try out their food.
#2 suggests you have tasted the food in that shop and you are recommending it (the food) to your friend.
