Change "aren't" to "weren't" or "would" to "will".

"Daddy, tell me what kind of Christmas will it be if you aren't with us?"

Will is ...... A prediction, a promise, an expectation, an impulsive descision, or a strong intention.

"Would" is an analysis word to describe things that might be if let/made to happen ..... This is with exception to its use in questions!!

If "would" is used with "have" then we have the situation where we talk about the past and what might have happened but didn't.
