Dear teachers,

The modal verb..shall has two meanings as in:

A) Shall becomes would when it refers to the future ( changing to reported speech)
E.g.
"I shall tell them everything" ( direct speech)
I decided I would tell them everthing. ( reported speech)

B) Shall becomes should when it is a suggestion ( when changing to reported speech)
Shall we tell the manager?" ( direct)
She suggested that they should tell the manager. ( reported)

***I am confused as in whether it only applies to the subject pronoun I and We.

Can I apply the above usage to other subject pronouns such as he, she or they? E.g. "He shall lose weight."

Please advise... thanks sooooo much, teachers

shall is used with 1st person pronouns 'I' and 'We':

I shall
You will
S/he will
It will

We shall
You will
They will

should is commonly replaced by 'would', especially in North American speech.

I should / would
You would
S/he would
It would

We should / would
You would
They would

All the best,
