would + past tense?

Is it OK to say these: 1. I would give it to you if you asked. 2. If you would ask I gave it to you. 3. I would give it to you if you would ask. Which part of such sentences normally goes into "would" and which into if? Thank you!

#1 is OK.

So why are number 2 and 3 [STRIKE]are[/STRIKE] not OK? Do you always have to [STRIKE]always[/STRIKE] start your phrase with the 'would' part? Thank you!
No. If you asked, I would give it to you is fine.

In basic conditional sentences, will/would is used in the if-clause. A tensed verb is used in the main clause.
