[General] Yeah = Yes?

Hi everyone, is yeah equal to yes? Are they interchangeable? For instance,

Person A: It is not a good idea.

Person B: Yes.
Here I know B does think it is a good idea, put another way, B disagrees with B on this issue.

Person B: well, yeah.
Here it is possible that B says yeah to imply he/she agrees with A on this matter. Am I right? That is to say, this is not a good idea.

The only difference between "yes" and "yeah" is the degree of formality.

There is no difference in intention.

If you simply answer "yes" to a negative statement, you will send a mixed message.

If you think it's not a good idea as well:
You're right.
I agree.
No, it really isn't.


If you think it *IS* a good idea:
Yes, it is.
I think it is.
