John is working very hard, but he continues to go out every night.

Another example:

I have almost no money, yet still I find the cash to buy cigarettes!
Sarah is 7 months' pregnant, yet still drinking half a bottle of wine each day.

Yet = but
Still = this situation/activity continues.

Good afternoon, Duiter.

(1) I do not think that the phrase "yet still" exists.

(2) Your sentence is actually a shorter way to say:

John is working so hard, yet (= but) (he) (is) still going out every night.

(i) My books tell me that you have two sentences connected by a conjunction:

John is working hard.

+ yet +

He is still going out every night.

(3) Here is a sentence from a very good grammar book:

She sold her house, yet can't help regretting it.

We could add "still": She sold her house, yet still can't help regretting it.

As you now know, this is a shorter way to say:

She sold her house, yet she still can't help regretting it.

(4) Your sentence is fine in conversation and maybe even in

regular writing. Just remember that there is no "word" such as "yet

still."

Have a nice day!
