You are/were supposed to have done it yesterday.



Would you use "are" or "were" in the above sample and why? Thanks.

'were', A, because the thing that was to be done was on a day and at a time which is finished. Note also the periphrastic modal perfect, 'have done'.

It's kinda like 'should have done it yesterday'.
