The first is natural and grammatical.
The second would be OK if you removed "reading".

"to waste one's time on" is usually followed by a noun or pronoun (with or without an adjective).

I don't waste my time on liars.
She doesn't waste her time on trashy novels.
They don't waste their time on trivialities.
