Lesson Plan Text

Proverbs bluff
Teacher’s instructions

Give out one or more proverbs to each person or group and ask them to
create two false definitions for the proverb that is there, e.g. “Children who
are hungry get really loud” for “Empty vessels make most noise”. They should
then read all three definitions to some other people and see if they can fool
some of them about which definition is correct.

They could then do the same with proverbs that they know (including testing
the teacher on translated ones from their own language) or find in a
dictionary or online.
