Hi!
1- Tom are watching Alice in the garden.
2- In the garden, Tom are watching Alice.

3- Tom are watching Alice from the garden.
4- From the garden, Tom are watching Alice.
Are they different, please?
 
In all of them, 'are' should be 'is'.

in #1, it's possible that Tom is not in the garden; Alice is. In #2, they are both in the garden
in #3 and #4, Tom is in the garden, but Alice is not.

2- In the garden, Tom [STRIKE]are[/STRIKE] is watching Alice.

3- Tom[STRIKE] are [/STRIKE] is watching Alice from the garden.
4- From the garden, Tom[STRIKE] are [/STRIKE] is watching Alice.
Are they different, please?
1. Alice is in the garden and Tom is watching her.
2. Tom is in the garden and is watching Alice.
3. Tom is in the garden and is watching Alice. (Alice may not be in the garden.)
4. Tom is in the garden and is watching Alice. (Alice may not be in the garden.)
