Is the usage 'if I remember correct' correct? If you google it, it is seen to be extensively used. Why is it considered incorrect by some people?

(Not a Teacher)

It should be "If I remember correctly". We mostly use adverbs to describe verbs. It may just be lazy speech that has been repeated often enough for some folks to think it's correct.

On Google, "If I remember correct" gets 5,800,000 hits, while the correct version "If I remember correctly" gets 111,000,000 hits. That is quite a difference.

You can also go for other options like "if my memory does not fail me", but I feel this one is far more formal, as well as possibly a tad outdated (native speakers will make it clearer).

Also, "If my memory serves me correctly" could be used.

It's also phrased as "if my memory serves me correctly". It is indeed a tad outdated, and sounds a bit contrived these days.

If you hear that phrase spoken, it will probably be shortened to "If memory serves...".

In BrE, "If I remember rightly ..."

I haven't tried this Ngram before. Isn't this a worry?:
