1. There is a dog and a cat in the house.
2. There are a dog and a cat in the house.

Is it correct to say that sentence 1 is an ellipsis of "There is a dog and there is a cat in the house"? Some people said the above sentences both correct, do you agree?

Are the following sentences correct?

i) There ARE two horses, a donkey and amule in the stable.
ii) There IS a donkey, two horses and a mule in the stable.
iii) There ARE two adults, a child and a dog in the park.
iv) There IS a child, two adults and a dog in the park.
