Have you tried googling 'semantic change'?

Hi,

If you give me your e-mail adress, I can send you some handouts which explain ( in a very accessible way, I believe) various types of semantic change and what triggers it. I guess it's a good thing to start with, since as you say yourself, you're a beginner and reading some serious "scientific stuff" may be quite a challenge for you;)

Still, if you are really interested in some books , here are two I can recommend :

The logical-rhetorical classification of semantic changes / Raphael Sappan.

Semantic change in English : a study of evaluative developments in the domain of humans / Grzegorz A. Kleparski.

The only obligatorily correctable error is putting in 'not', which was probably a slip.
