-I would lower taxes if I were the President.
In formal English the subject and the auxiliary can be inverted in the if-clause with if omitted like this:
-Were I the president I would lower taxes
I would like to ask if we can aslo invert the if-clause as the following.
-Were I to be the president, I would lower taxes.
