Hi

Is it OK to say: I don't think there's an equivalent of my name in German.

**Neither a teacher nor a native-speaker**

I think it's ok. The alternative usage may be like;

I don't think there's a German equivalent of my name.

Hi

Yes, it means there's no cognate in German for your name.

Wouldn't equivalent to be better?

No, it wouldn't.
And would it be OK? I'm asking because the word treated as an adjective is said to go with 'to' by a dictionary I looked in. There's nothing about it as a noun though.
